#1 OB/GYN In Canton, GA

Roswell OB/GYN is a group of specialists in obstetrics and gynecology who offer state-of-the-art expertise and technology to North Atlanta and the towns beyond.

Our mission is to care for women of all ages, races, and creeds, regardless of sexual orientation or socio-economic condition. We treat our patients with respect and compassion, no matter who they are or what the situation is. Our patients come first.

Four locations allow us to reach out to communities as far away from Atlanta as Canton, 40 miles north. While well-woman care is an integral part of our care, we offer essential services in gynecology, obstetrics, and gynecological surgery.

Our Services

These are services that involve a woman’s reproductive system when she is not pregnant.

  • Well-woman exams performed yearly include discussions of problems appropriate to the age of the patient. Questions about sexual activity, contraception, personal concerns, and STDs are approached gently and discretely, especially in the teenage years. Menopause, along with its symptoms and effects on the body, is discussed as our patients grow older. Sexual dysfunction is a topic we approach tacitly since many patients will not bring the subject up by themselves.
  • It is also a time to talk about lifestyle and social habits, such as smoking.
  • Pap smears to evaluate the cells on the cervix for abnormalities and cancer are generally started at about age 21, depending on the patient’s lifestyle.
  • HPV (human papillomavirus) and STD (sexually transmitted disease) testing are done when indicated.
  • Mammograms are generally started around age 40 unless there is a strong family history of breast cancer, in which case they may begin earlier.
  • Any gynecological problems that are uncovered are evaluated thoroughly and treated appropriately.
  • Each office can provide vaccinations for adults, including HPV, hepatitis, influenza, TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), etc.
  • Experts can evaluate you for infertility and recurrent miscarriages with modern technology and treat you.
  • Various contraception methods are available, such as birth control pills, subcutaneous implants that can last up to four years, vaginal rings, IUDs (intrauterine devices), and permanent tubal ligation.

These services cover the whole field of pregnancy-related conditions.

  • Routine obstetric care often starts before conception when couples come in to discuss a planned pregnancy. Care continues through prenatal visits, birth, and postnatal visits. The canton prenatal care is comprehensive. Your obstetrician will address your concerns and keep you informed of your progress and the development of your baby. Childbirth classes will help prepare you for the birth of your baby. We specialize in educating our patients.
  • Some pregnancies are not routine. Pregnancies with multiple fetuses or complications of hypertension, diabetes, hormonal problems, or excessive or insufficient amniotic fluid, along with pregnancy in an older woman, all pose risks to both the mother and the baby (babies). These and other high-risk pregnancies need to be handled by an OB/GYN specialist. Roswell OB/GYN has these high-risk OB/GYN experts. With a high-risk pregnancy, our doctors will follow you more closely than a woman with routine pregnancy. It will mean more frequent office visits, more frequent ultrasounds, and other testing.
  • Routine ultrasound is available at our OB/GYN in Canton, GA as it is at the other offices.
  • Nuchal transparency testing is also done at our OB/GYN in Canton, GA to screen for trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) and other chromosomal abnormalities.
  • NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing) uses your blood to determine the risk of chromosomal abnormalities in the baby.
  • Nonstress testing monitors the baby’s heart rate during movement. A biophysical profile, including a nonstress test and ultrasound, measures various parameters such as heart rate, muscle tone, amount of amniotic fluid. These are done later in pregnancy to determine the baby’s well-being.
  • If desired, you can choose to have a nurse-midwife deliver your child. Our Canton midwifery service is staffed by friendly, compassionate, professional, and experienced healthcare providers.
  • Some women who have had a cesarean section want to try delivering vaginally. We can offer VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) to women whose exams and history meet the requirements for trying.
  • In some breech presentations at delivery, doctors experienced in the procedure may turn the baby around with an external cephalic version. If successful, the arrangement allows for a vaginal delivery instead of a C-section.

Our specialists are experts in gynecological surgeries, especially the minimally invasive types.

  • We offer laparoscopic procedures such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, evaluation for pelvic pain, and other methods performed through the laparoscope.
  • We perform a vaginal hysterectomy, the preferred procedure for problems such as uterine fibroid tumors.
  • Hysteroscopy, a procedure in which a tube is slipped through the cervix into the uterus to evaluate and biopsy the endometrial lining, generally in cases of heavy bleeding.
  • A myomectomy involves removing fibroid tumors from the uterus in a woman who wants to retain her childbearing capability.
  • Excessive bleeding from the uterus is sometimes treated with a procedure called endometrial ablation. The endometrial lining of the uterus is destroyed during the process, usually treating the bleeding problem and ending the woman’s ability to have a baby. Therefore, it is only used in women who do not desire further pregnancies.
  • A LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) is done to remove small pieces of the cervix if the area is found to have cancerous or precancerous cells.
  • Tubal ligation is a permanent method of preventing future pregnancies.

It is one of our specialties. We lead the field in providing a natural, non-surgical method of restoring pelvic floor muscle function.

  • Following a vaginal delivery, some women develop weakness of the muscles at the base of the pelvis, the pelvic floor. It can be due to the stretching of the muscles during the delivery, an episiotomy, a large baby, or several other causes. It is worsened by constipation and the subsequent need to strain to pass stool. Chronic coughing and obesity tend to make it worse. Sometimes hormonal imbalances with low levels of estrogen can contribute to the problem.
  • The weakened muscles affect your urinary bladder and sometimes your rectum and can cause urinary or fecal incontinence.
  • Besides having incontinence issues, you may also experience pain during sex or at other times.
  • Severe deterioration of the pelvic floor muscles can result in prolapse of the cervix or the uterus.
  • A non-invasive and natural method of dealing with the problem, our Canton pelvic floor rehabilitation, maybe your answer.
  • Therapy consists of six to eight weeks of treatment. You will come to the office once a week for muscle retraining and behavioral education.
  • It could include muscle exercises, biofeedback, electrical stimulation, and behavioral changes.
  • Most women have either elimination of their problems or significant improvement in symptoms.

Our infertility experts have helped many couples achieve their dreams of having children.

  • If you have been having unprotected sex, timed to correlate with your most fertile part of your cycle for a year, and have had no success, you meet the definition of infertility and may need help.
  • An OB/GYN specialist with expertise in infertility problems can guide your evaluation. Once a diagnosis is made, your infertility specialist will discuss treatment with you, and together you will decide on therapy.
  • You may have ovulation issues involving hormonal imbalances such as thyroid hormone, diabetes, or other underlying disorders. You could also have blocked tubes.
  • Bloodwork will be sent to the lab for hormone levels and other tests.
  • The test to determine whether the Fallopian tubes are patent is called a hysterosalpingogram. If this test is needed, we will be happy to schedule it for you.
  • Treatment of infertility depends on the cause. Hormonal problems need to be corrected. A specialist will open up blocked tubes for the fertilized egg to pass into the uterus.
  • Some medications can induce ovulation in women who have no other problems except for failure to ovulate. These are the fertility drugs, Clomid and Letrozole. They will be prescribed if you and your canton fertility doctor agree that this is the appropriate therapy for you.

If you have any gynecological concerns, are planning on becoming pregnant, need contraception, or a routine well-woman examination, we are here for you.
